ALL OUR FENCING TIMBER IS PRESSURE TREATED FOR LONGER LIFE
Pressure treatment is a process that forces wood preservatives or fire-retardants into the wood. Preservatives protect the wood from attack by wood ingesting insects; like termites, and wood rot caused by fungal decay. These processes are considered the best and most effective method to extend and preserve timber life.
WE TAKE OUR ENVIRONMENT AND SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES SERIOUSLY
Thornton Fencing are committed to working responsibly to protect the environment and set high standards in our dealings with our employees, customers, suppliers and the wider society. We only purchase timber from sawmills that manage forests and operate programmes of planting and renewal for the sustainability of the timber they supply.
SPLITS & CRACKS IN TIMBER – NO NEED FOR CONCERN
Timber is a natural material and may split and crack as it expands and contracts with humidity and temperature changes. These occur more in the summer due to heat and dry weather and then contract in the winter months. We appreciate that these can appear quite large and alarming; however, this is perfectly normal and DOES NOT affect the strength or integrity of the product. Please be aware that we do not offer a guarantee on our timber for splits and cracks as this is the nature of the product we supply.
OTHER TIMBER CHARACTISTICS
Timber is a natural material and other characteristics such as knots, the release of sap, warping and twisting is normal. Because of this, we do not offer a guarantee if such factors occur.
